— 24kGoldn just dropped “23 Freestyle,” an introspective lyrical stream of consciousness bolstered by a melancholic and eruptive production by Cash Cobain.

“23 Freestyle” arrives alongside a visual by Dakota Lim & Erik Saevi that captures Goldn’s versatility, as he delivers the lyrics across a wide variety of locales across the Bay Area.

The new song follows 24kGoldn’s recent Good Intentions EP, which marked a turning point for the singer and songwriter. In the midst of reconciling the aftermath of his meteoric hit “Mood,” his songwriting took a turn inward, processing his upbringing as a mixed kid in the notorious Lakeview neighborhood of San Francisco.

“I realized, while everyone knew my song, they didn’t know me and how could they? I still didn’t know me” — 24kGoldn

“23 Freestyle” is an apt demonstration that he is on the other side of this process, working on a new set of material with an assuredness that befits his evolving craftsmanship — or as he states in the song, “23, I’m finally in my bag.”
