— Arkansas rapper and songwriter Kari Faux performs in Atlanta for the first stop of her REAL B*TCHES DON’T DIE TOUR.
Arriving on the scene in 2014 with her mixtape Laugh Now, Die Later, Kari Faux has created her own lane of southern rap infused with psych, gospel, pop and hip hop weaved with her thoughtful and playful lyrics. Fast forward to today and you’ll see that Kari has continued to grow and evolve, most notably with her latest album, REAL B*TCHES DON’T DIE, released this past May featuring hits like “ME FIRST” and “TURNIN HEADS” featuring fellow southern wordsmith, Big K.R.I.T. Now, following the release of her first album since 2020’s Lowkey Superstar, Kari has embarked on a 26-city tour in support of the album. Let’s take a look back at its opening show right here in Atlanta, Georgia.
Held at one of Atlanta’s go-to concert venues, Vinyl at Center Stage, the mood was perfectly set for a great night and a stellar show. Simply judging by the thick feeling of excitement and eagerness radiating off of the beautiful, exuberant, and colorfully dressed women in the crowd (all seemingly members of Kari’s “tribe”), it’s safe to say that Kari Faux has no shortage of supporters in Atlanta.
After a few jams to warm up the crowd and a light introduction, courtesy of her DJ, frequent collaborator, and partner Phoelix, Kari Faux hit the stage and starts off the show with her new album’s opener and title track, “REAL B*TCHES DON’T DIE.”
From this moment on, the audience’s excitement grew and grew as they recited lyrics bar for bar and greeted Kari with screams, claps, and an outpouring of love that even she was surprised to receive with this being her first tour in four years.
Still, despite the long break from touring, the entire night went on with a hitch as Kari Faux showed us exactly why she’s here to stay. Performing every song from REAL B*TCHES DON’T DIE with fervor, enthusiasm, and flawless execution — even bringing out Big K.R.I.T to perform his verse from “TURNIN HEADS” — Kari has proven herself to be a truly talented artist with passion for her craft and immense appreciation for her fans and the position she’s in today.
