— Rapper Troy Fayola shares a freestyle video where she raps over one of Hip-Hop’s most classic instrumentals, “Vivrant Thing”.

Atlanta-based rapper, Troy Fayola, has been steadily building steam with an incredible year thus far. After releasing her first official single, “I LOVE YOU GREG (FEEL IT IN YA SOUL)” back in February, she caught quite a bit of attention with her Women’s History Month tribute freestyle. Now, Troy is back with another freestyle — this time over a classic Hip-Hop beat.

“Vivrant Thing” —  written, performed, and produced by Tribe Called Quest member and Hip-Hop legend, Q-Tip — is an undeniable classic Hip-Hop song with its instrumental possibly being even more popular. With this in mind, Troy Fayola knew that she had to come correct. Standing on the shoulders of giants requires that you respect their previous efforts in both spirit and action, which Troy Fayola unquestionably did.

For over 2 minutes straight, the rapper floats over the instrumental as she shamelessly declares her greatness, denounces her unimpressive peers, and cosigns positive thinking and progressive movements.

The Simo Haier-shot visual mimics the classic radio freestyle setup made famous by prominent DJs like Funk Flex, giving it its authentic feel.

Troy Fayola is no stranger to freestyling whether to a beat or acapella. You can check her out on episode 44 of our official More Bars Please series.
