— Chicago artist Recoechi announced his debut album FLAVAZ last month and today he’s back with a new song from it for “Golden” ft. JazStarr.
Produced by Renzell the track along with past tracks from the release “Giant Leaps ft. femdot.”and “Cake” firmly put Recoechi as one of the best rappers to come out of Chicago in the past 10+ years.
FLAVAZ is undeniably a Chicago hip-hop album. With production from Renzell (Chance the Rapper, Isaiah Rashad, Mick Jenkins, Vic Mensa, Saba, Noname, theMIND, Femdot) and additional production from C-Sick and others, Recoechi delivers top-tier storytelling across a sprawling record that introduces an entire arsenal of characters — each drawn from the depths of human experience. The project captures his upbringing on Chicago’s Southeast Side, while also channeling the many styles born from the city to carve out a voice entirely his own. It’s political, personal, about the streets, recovery, reflective — and ultimately about survival and self-discovery.
