— The estate of XXXTentacion last week announced the long-awaited collaboration between two of the most influential voices of this generation, XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD. They deliver their joint single “whoa (mind in awe) (Remix)” which arrives as the sonically captivating record with ambient production and delicate melodies from X that fans know, coupled with reflective and introspective lyrics from WRLD — creating a poignant experience.
The accompanying music video begins with a message of doing things with meaning and following your dreams. The visual encapsulates both artists’ familial roots and heritage in Jamaica and follows kids through a day on the island. Towards the end, it cuts to big lights on the soccer field as it completes the story of small children with big dreams like X and WRLD.
The XXXTentacion Foundation, in collaboration with Juice WRLD’s 999 Foundation, decided to re-create the soccer jerseys seen in the video and offer fans a soccer kit inclusive of 3 colorways. A portion of the proceeds will be split between supporting youth, community, and infrastructure in Jamaica, as well as continuing WRLD’s mission in mental health advocacy. Before his untimely passing, X began to make visible strides to give back — frequently donating to shelters and involvement in other community activations. His passion led to the start of the XXXTentacion Foundation, which was established by his family and estate in an effort to make a positive impact on the lives of others. The Foundation has helped build art studios, classrooms, and dining halls in Jahseh’s name, as well as provide farming infrastructure and school supplies to communities across Jamaica, Uganda, and around the world.
