— Southside Atlanta’s own, Booney, delivers a short but sweet serenade in his latest release, “1 Hour From Austin”.
As a part of Atlanta’s prolific underground Hip-Hop scene, Booney takes immense pride in every bar he spits and it doesn’t go unnoticed. In fact, Booney even appeared on our very own More Bars Please series last year to show us just that. The up-and-coming wordsmith never fails to impress as he uses his introspective lyrics, methodical delivery, and unique artistry every time he’s ready to create. On his latest single, “1 Hour From Austin”, he continues to show and prove.
From the jump, the tone of “1 Hour From Austin” is set with the help of some mellow acoustic strings and chill percussion laid in classic lo-fi fashion. Booney then comes through seconds later and begins to reflect on a romantic relationship he’s encountered during his travels. Booney’s poetic approach to the song, along with the aforementioned production, creates the feeling that he’s penning an open letter, publicly professing his feelings to the intended receiver.
At just over a minute in playback time, “1 Hour From Austin” definitely leaves you wanting more. Then again, we can only hope that means Booney has more to come very soon.
